John’s really finds his voice with these teenage heroes. He brings out
all the angst and awkwardness of those years and at the same time
doesn’t overplay it. When reading you feel that these young adults
trying to find their place in the world and that they live with death
looking over there shoulder at every point. John’s biggest advantage
is that he knows these characters inside and out, which can also be the
biggest weakness of the book. Although this book is a fresh start for
most of these characters, each of them still come layered with years of
continuity and at times that can be confusing. The art in this book
is superb. Mckone and Grummett are two of the best superhero artists
out there. Clean lines that make any action scene pop. If you are a
fan of classic superhero stories with a pinch of teen angst then this
is the book for you.
