DC comics created the ‘All-Star’ line to allow fans and creators to enjoy stories that bring the characters “back to basics” in new, initiative ways.
Collecting the first six issues of the Award-winning series, All-Star Superman vol.1 begins with Superman rescuing the first manned mission to the sun. Due to being so close to the sun, the source of his powers, Superman’s cells become overloaded with energy and begin to break down. The source of his powers is killing him. For the rest of the trade, Superman must come to terms with his condition, find a cure, and tie up any lose ends in case a cure can’t be found; all the while ‘taking care of business as usual’ while juggling his duel identities.
