Ichigo Kurosaki can see ghosts.  This does not drastically change his life until he sees Rukia,  a Soul Reaper and member of the Soul Society.  Rukia is injured in an attack by a Hollow, which is an evil spirit.  To save her life, and those of Icihigo and hi family, she must share her powers with Ichigo, making him a Soul Reaper in her place.
